  44.   OS supported: MS WINDOWS NT and Windows 3.1 (via Win32s)

  46.   Processor   : Intel 386/486

  48.   Memory      : The application should be run on systems with at least
  49.                 8MB of RAM.  Larger models will require more memory or
  50.                 a great deal of patience!  In any case, if you find that
  51.                 the hard drive is spinning excessively (using the drive
  52.                 as virtual memory) you should select a smaller model
  53.                 or, perferably, a computer with more memory, if the
  54.                 former is an option.

  56.   Video       : Currently only 8-bit video cards are supported, true
  57.                 color (24-bit) will be soon be supported.  Lesser video
  58.                 cards will show dither patterns to simulate the real 
  59.                 colors assigned to the volume model.

  68. I would like to introduce you to our product, the Vox-L Visualizer.  This
  69. application is meant as a aid to various professions where visualization
  70. of data is crucial.  For example our volume visualization software will
  71. help doctors interactively view and manipulate patient data in a three
  72. dimensional format which is much more intuitive and more significant than
  73. traditional methods.

  75. The included diskette contains the binaries for the Intel platform and a
  76. demonstration version of a full (16MB) MRI dataset.

  86. INSTALLING WIN32S:
  87. -----------------

  89. If you are not running MS Windows NT it is necessary to install the Windows
  90. 32-bit Subsystem (Win32s) in order to run the Vox-L demonstration.  Insert 
  91. the Win32s diskette, from the Program Manager select File, then Run, 
  92. enter A:\SETUP.EXE as the program to start.  The Vox-L Visualizer can now 
  93. be installed.

  96. INSTALLING VOX-L:

  99. Place the diskette containing the DEMO version of Vox-L in your floppy
  100. drive.  From Program Manager select File, Run and type A:\INSTALL.EXE as 
  101. the program to start.  The installation program will prompt you for a path
  102. in which to install the program, sample dataset and documentation.

  104. Note:  For users installing from a hard drive or CD-ROM, when using Program
  105.        Manager to run the installation, please specify the complete path
  106.        where the Vox-L Demonstration resides in addition to the setup
  107.        program name.  Thus:
  108.        Select File, Run (from Program Manager) and type 
  109.        C:\NEWAPPS\VOX-L\INSTALL.EXE
  110.  
  111.        where C:\NEWAPPS\VOX-L\ is the path of the demonstration disk.

  114. SYSTEM RESOURCES:
  115. ----------------

  117. Because of the large system requirements (see below) we have included an
  118. interactive HELP file which demonstrates the majority of the features
  119. offered by the Vox-L Volume Visualizer.  In the event of minimal system
  120. resources (storage space, limited memory, etc.) one may manually install
  121. the HELP file (approximately 800KB) by using the EXPAND command in DOS.
  122. Thus, assuming the file VOX-L.HL_ was in drive A, one would type:
  123.   EXPAND a:\VOX-L.HL_  c:\PATHNAME\VOX-L.HLP
  124.  
  125. We suggest the minimum configuration should be a 486 DX-33 with at least 
  126. 8MB of RAM, however, it has been known to run (at a crawl) on a 386SX 
  127. with a math coprocessor with 6MB of RAM.)

  196. When run, Vox-L creates an Multiple Document Interface (MDI) along with two
  197. floating dialog boxes.  These floating dialog boxes allow the user to
  198. manipulate the volume for the desired affect.  The MDI parent window creates
  199. two windows when activated via a file load/model request.  One window
  200. displays the 2D projection of the model, while the other is a cube used to
  201. rotate and pan into/out of the "model space".
